If the MVR has advised that you need to complete a practical motorcycle assessment to transfer your overseas licence, simply book into one of our available Provisional Courses, and arrive at the scheduled start time.

If you need to transfer an overseas motorcycle licence to the Northern Territory, Territory Motorcycle Training can provide the practical riding assessment required by the Motor Vehicle Registry (MVR). We are an accredited motorcycle licence course provider authorised to conduct motorcycle practical assessments as part of the overseas licence transfer process.
Assessments are conducted from our private rider training facility in Darwin and on surrounding roads. Motorcycle or scooter hire and helmet hire are included free of charge, with both manual and automatic options available.
What Do You Need to Do Before Your Overseas Motorcycle Licence Practical Assessment?
If you hold a foreign or overseas motorcycle licence that is not directly recognised under Australia’s licence equivalency arrangements, the NT MVR may require you to:
- Complete a multiple-choice motorcycle theory test
- Be granted an interim licence or approval by the MVR
- Complete a practical motorcycle riding assessment with an approved provider
Before attending your practical assessment with TMT, please ensure you have submitted your application to the MVR, completed any required theory testing and received the appropriate interim licence approval.
